My approach to any form of art is subject matter and design. Choosing things that move me and move those that view my work. Hopefully to visually convey my spirit/feelings on canvas. Design for me requires much thought. It's difficult for me to improve on the whole of what I see, but I find that if you want to make a feature in a composition pop, it's best to isolate it. My pallet is made of primary colors which I blend to make my pallet, avoiding black and earth-tones. There are times when unusual colors require synthetic pigments, such as a sunlit wild flower. Colors are pushed matching the light I experience in nature and sometimes pushing it a notch or two bolder. Soft brushes and a smooth canvas best works for the realistic style of choice. I love texture when it works with the illusion that I'm trying to convey. My mediam is made of three part oil , one part spirits and one part varnish in order to capture the light in my paintings.
