"The medium I work with is found wood. It is wood I find on the forest floor, river beds, lakes and coastlines. I sculpt in an interpretive style, relying more on my and the viewer's imagination instead of the exact replication of the details of the subject. My most sculpted subjects are stringed instruments, (in an interpretive non-playing style), wildlife, and stationary objects that promote flow and graceful , soft lines. I try to leave a place for the viewer to get involved, whether it be by the simple sight and enjoyment of the beauty and movement of the grain, or emotionally by relating to, or creating a story of their own. Each piece of wood is first meticulously studied for shape and graceful lines of moving grain. I use a combination of hand tools and power tools such as grinders and cutters. Most of my work is completed in a natural finish to enhance the beauty and movement of the wood."
